One of the most important things you should know about Toy's Landscape Company is that we are a multi-generational family-owned company, and all of us genuinely care about the landscapes we work on. The history of our company began when Greg Toy started mowing lawns in 1987 as a part time business during college. In 1993/1994, he secured a storefront lease, and he and his wife Jennifer opened up a small gift shop and one greenhouse full of annuals under the name of Toy's Flowers & Landscape Supply. They operated the small storefront and continued to mow lawns for a few years. Many customers coming into the retail business would ask him if he would install plants and mulch. Based on customer demand, he decided to add a contracting side to his business, performing small landscaping projects.
Between 1996 and 2004, Greg expanded the retail business by building out more greenhouses, adding to the gift shop, and buying a local florist business. All the while, the contracting/maintenance side of the business grew to about five employees and a couple pieces of equipment were purchased.
Raising four kids and running a business heavily dependent on him, Greg made the decision to relocate his business in 2012. The retail space/greenhouse property was sold and the contracting/maintenance side of the business became the primary focus. Re-branded under Toy's Landscape Company, the business grew again in the new space for a couple years after 2012. The staff expanded to approximately ten to thirteen employees.
In 2019, Ryan Toy left his job as a project engineer to join the business full-time. Additionally, Jesse and Cody Toy committed to the business full-time after they graduated from college. The team consists of highly-educated landscape contractors who studied at Penn State University.
Now, Cody, Jesse, and Ryan have taken over most of the business responsibilities. We have committed to being a better employer, being a better business, and to have fun! You should also know that as dog enthusiasts, our team loves to meet pet owners and their pets while working on our projects.
